Omar H. Mardam-Bey, Ph.D.
ARISE Founder & President

Dr. Omar Mardam-Bey is Lebanese and received his university education in Lebanon and the USA. He received his BS in Mathematics in 1964, followed by a BS in Electrical Engineering in 1968, both from the American University of Beirut (AUB), Beirut, Lebanon.

Dr. Mardam-Bey obtained an MS in Electrical Engineering (Digital Systems design) in 1970 and a Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering (Control Systems & Avionics) in 1973 both from the University of Kansas, Lawrence, Kansas USA



Dr. Mardam-Bey has over 25 years of experience in industry, with special emphasis on design and construction of electrical & electronic equipment and training systems for electrical engineering laboratories at universities and higher technical institutions.

Dr. Mardam-Bey is presently the Engineering Manager (Industrial) and Quality Manager for
Khatib & Alami - Consolidated Engineering Company, one of the most prominent engineering design & consulting companies in the Arab world. He is particularly interested and involved in Renewable Energy, Energy Efficiency and Energy Conservation technologies. Dr. Mardam-Bey is a senior member of the Institute of Electrical & Electronic Engineers (IEEE) and a member of the Lebanese order of Engineers.
 


Fouad Mrad, Ph.D.
Member, ARISE Management Board

Dr. Fouad Mrad is Lebanese and received his university education in the USA. He received his B.S. Degree in Electrical & Computer Engineering from the State University of New York, Buffalo, USA, in 1986. He then joined Purdue University, Indiana, USA, from which he obtained a Ph.D.

Degree in 1990 in Electrical Engineering Dr. Mrad has been very active and highly involved in the promotion and improvement of industrial activities in Lebanon. He participated in many consulting and advisory activities with international and United Nations organizations and with Lebanese official agencies. 



Some of the organizations he worked with are UN-ESCWA as a consultant, Lebanese Ministry of Industry as an advisor to the minister, Association of Lebanese Industrialists and National Council for Scientific Research (Lebanese Industrial Research Achievements). Dr. Mrad directed his students in conducting very high quality Final Year Projects where such projects received many awards.

Dr. Mrad is a member of the Lebanese Syndicate of Engineers and the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE). He achieved the status of full professor at the American University of Beirut where he has been teaching courses in Electrical & Computer engineering sine 1993. Prior to his teaching career, Dr. Mrad worked at IBM in the USA where he ccoordinated and implemented advanced manufacturing technology projects, Coordinated IBM sponsored research projects at Purdue University, Co-invented 4 disclosures including a patent, received IBM First Patent Invention Achievement Award and IBM three Author Recognition Awards.
 


Mr. Nabil Nasser
Member, ARISE Management Board

Mr. Nabil Nasser is Palestinian and received his university education in Lebanon. He received his B.S. Degree in Electronics and Communications Engineering from Beirut Arab University.

He has been active in the telecommunication industry for more than 25 years. Mr. Nasser launched his career with Investcom, a leading investor in the telecommunications sector in the region. As a member of the core team that started the group in 1984, and for his 18 years with the group, Mr. Nasser was involved in the setup of almost all the ventures that fall under the umbrella of the group and was well-positioned to witness first-hand the growth of the Group into a multi-billion dollar organisation. .




As of 2001, Mr. Nasser has taken the lead of EMC Square Ltd, a venture that offers consultancy services for large telecommunications projects in the region. Managing a group of highly skilled professionals in ICT, his successes follow his already impressive achievements with Investcom.

Mr. Nasser is a Senior Member of the Institute of Electrical and Electronic Engineers (IEEE), a member of the Institute of Engineering and Technology (IET, formerly IEE), the Institute of Directors (IOD) and one of the first members of ARISE
